Some visitors to this website will be readers who simply enjoy partaking of good writing about the Plain People: Amish, Mennonite, Hutterite and other Christians who choose to take God's directive to live separate from the influences of the world seriously. Others will be writers, as I am, who have either been writing under their own names or pen names, or writing for others under contract. I have been of the latter group, but after watching the success my writing has achieved, I have made the decision that many other ghostwriters have in the past: write for myself...and my readers, of course!
The opportunities for indie writers have never been greater. Amazon Kindle is a great place to start, but it isn't the only opportunity. On my D. Gail Author website I plan to share with visitors what I learn from exploring those different options. Anyone can self-publish their writing in eBook or print-on-demand formats, but publishing quality writing is not quite so easy. Drawing on years of freelance editing experience, I am helping other indie writers achieve that quality in their own writing through proofreading and editing services as well as help with the basics, such as formatting for electronic and print-on-demand publishing. If you are an indie writer in the Amish genre, contact me at This email address is being protected from spambots. Why Amish writing? No, I am not Amish. I am Christian, and, to be honest, I have had very little personal contact with the Amish. I was asked to write Amish romance novels by my clients because, yes, Amish romance novels and novellas sell well. I jumped on the opportunity because I had no interest in writing paranormal romances or erotica, which also sell well, but writing in those genres would promote values that I feel oppose Christian teaching. I researched the Amish extensively in order to write about them. I do not personally agree with the Amish on every point, yet I admire their commitment to integrate their faith into every aspect of their lives. I've learned much and been challenged by this special group of Christian people in my own walk with the Lord.
They prove that not one part of the Church has got it completely right. But together we make a whole.
